سابقه و هدف: سرطان، عملکرد فرد و خانواده را تحت تأثیر قرار می‌دهد و موجب مشکلات روان‌شناختی از جمله افسردگی در آن‌ها می‌شود. این مطالعه با هدف ارتباط درد مزمن با افسردگی از دیدگاه کودکان بستری در بخش هماتولوژی کودکان بیمارستان‌های وابسته به دانشگاه علوم پزشکی شهر همدان در شرایط همه‌گیری کووید-۱۹ انجام شد.
مواد و روش‌‌ها: این مطالعه از نوع همبستگی بود که در آن تعداد ۸۶ کودک مبتلا به سرطان بستری در بخش هماتولوژی کودکان به روش تمام شماری مورد مطالعه قرار گرفتند. پرسش‌نامه‌ی افسردگی Coax و درد مزمن برای تمامی کودکان سرطانی تکمیل شد و اطلاعات کدبندی، با استفاده از آزمون همبستگی Pearson مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفتند.
یافته‌ها: : بررسی درد مزمن خردسالان و کودکان و نوجوانان مبتلا به سرطان مورد مطالعه، شدت درد مزمن پایینی را نشان داد. ضریب همبستگی Pearson نشان داد که متغیر افسردگی در دو گروه خردسالان و کودکان و نوجوانان با درد مزمن رابطه‌ی معنی‌دار و مستقیمی دارد (۰/۰۵ > P).
نتیجه‌گیری: درد مزمن ناشی از سرطان در کودکان و نوجوانان می‌تواند باعث گرایش کودک به سمت افسردگی شود. توصیه می‌شود برای پیشگیری از افسردگی این کودکان، درد مزمن آن‌ها تا حد ممکن تسکین داده شود.
