سابقه و هدف: پوسیدگی دندان، شایع‌ترین بیماری مزمن دهان است که استفاده‌ی طولانی‌مدت از داروهای مایع خوراکی می‌تواند باعث ایجاد آن شود. هدف از این مطالعه، بررسی و مقایسه‌ی پتانسیل پوسیدگی‌زایی سه نوع شربت مکمل رایج بر روی دندان‌های شیری در دندان‌پزشکی کودکان بود.
مواد و روش‌‌ها: در این مطالعه‌ی تجربی، ۱۸ قطعه از دندان شیری سالم کشیده شده، به طور تصادفی به سه گروه شامل گروه اول استئوکر، گروه دوم، فروگلوبین و گروه سوم، کیندرمولتی تقسیم‌بندی شدند. میزان ریزسختی دندان‌ها با استفاده از دستگاه سنجش سختی ویکرز (Vikers) در روز اول و پس از ۲۸ روز اندازه‌گیری شد. pH مکمل‌ها توسط pH سنج دیجیتالی اندازه‌گیری شد. مقایسه‌ی گروه‌ها از طریق آزمون آماری تحلیل واریانس یک‌طرفه و آزمون Paired T-test انجام شد.
یافته‌ها: نتایج آزمون نشان داد که بعد از ۲۸ روز غوطه‌وری، میانگین ریزسختی در گروه‌های فروگلوبین، استئوکر و کیندرمولتی از لحاظ آماری معنی‌دار نشد. میانگین ریزسختی گروه استئوکر در روز اول و روز ۲۸ متفاوت بود و میزان ریزسختی در این گروه طی ۲۸ روز کاهش یافته بود.
نتیجه‌گیری: طبق نتایج به دست آمده مکمل استئوکر بیشترین پوسیدگی‌زایی را نشان داد. مکمل‌های فروگلوبین و کیندرمولتی، پوسیدگی‌زایی جزئی داشتند که قابل چشم‌پوشی است. نوع قند و تعداد دفعات مصرف مکمل، تأثیر بیشتری نسبت به مواد معدنی موجود در مکمل در پوسیدگی‌زایی داشت.
