سابقه و هدف: یکی از چالش‌های نسل حاضر، مسئله‌ی افکار خودکشی است که به ‌عنوان یکی از معضلات جدی بهداشت روان شناخته شده و نیازمند مطالعه جدی است. ازین‌رو، پژوهش حاضر با هدف مدل‌یابی رابطه‌ی معنا در زندگی و ترومای دوران کودکی با افکار خودکشی با نقش میانجی سبک‌های مقابله‌ای انجام پذیرفت.
مواد و روش ها: پژوهش حاضر از نوع توصیفی-همبستگی است. جامعه آماری شامل دانشجویان دانشگاه علوم پزشکی آزاد تبریز می‌باشد که طبق آمار، تعداد آن‌ها ۳۲۰۰ نفر است. براساس کوکران و به روش نمونه‌گیری داوطلبانه و آنلاین، ۳۴۵ نفر به عنوان نمونه انتخاب شدند. ابزار گردآوری اطلاعات، پرسش‌نامه­های معنای زندگی استگر، فریزر اویشی و کالر (۲۰۰۶)، ترومای دوران کودکی برنشتاین ­(۱۹۹۸)، افکار خودکشی بک ­(۱۹۶۱) و سبک­های مقابله ای لازاروس فولکمن (۱۹۸۵) می­باشد. داده ها نیز از طریق روش معادلات ساختاری تحلیل شدند.
یافته‌ها: نتایج نشان داد که مدل پیشنهادی از برازش قابل قبولی برخوردار است، زیرا بین معنا در زندگی و ترومای دوران کودکی با افکار خودکشی ارتباط معناداری وجود دارد (۰/۰۵>P). معنا در زندگی به صورت منفی با افکار خودکشی در ارتباط است، در حالی‌که ترومای دوران کودکی رابطه‌ مثبتی با این افکار دارد. سبک‌های مقابله‌ای نیز نقش میانجی بین معنا در زندگی و ترومای دوران کودکی با افکار خودکشی دارد (۰/۰۵>P)
نتیجه‌گیری: توجه به عوامل روان‌شناختی، مانند معنا در زندگی و ترومای دوران کودکی، می‌تواند به طراحی مداخلات موثری برای کاهش افکار خودکشی کمک کند. لذا این یافته ها اهمیت توجه به مداخلات روان شناختی را برای بهبود سبک های مقابله ای نشان می دهد.
