اهداف: مصرف سیگار شیوع بالایی در افراد دارای اختلالات روان‌پزشکی دارد. این پژوهش با هدف مقایسۀ دشواری‌های تنظیم هیجان در دانشجویان سیگاری دارا و بدون اضطراب اجتماعی انجام شد.
مواد و روش‌ها: این پژوهش توصیفی شامل کلیۀ دانشجویان کارشناسی مصرف‌کننده سیگار در دانشگاه اراک در سال 98-1397 بود. برای انتخاب نمونه پژوهش از نمونه‌گیری هدفمند استفاده شد. ابتدا، تعداد 120 نفر از آنها پرسش‌نامه هراس اجتماعی و مقیاس دشواری‌های تنظیم هیجان را تکمیل نمودند. سپس با توجه به نمرۀ برش (19 و بالاتر) در پرسش‌نامۀ هراس اجتماعی، دو گروه 30 نفره جداگانه، شامل دو گروه سیگاری دارا و بدون اضطراب اجتماعی، انتخاب و از لحاظ دشواری‌های تنظیم هیجان مورد مقایسه قرار گرفتند.
یافته‌ها: نتایج تحلیل واریانس چندمتغیره (مانووا) نشان داد که تفاوت معناداری در ترکیب خطی متغیرهای وابسته دو گروه وجود نداشت (لامبدا ویلکز =0/722، 2/269F46.6=، 0/053=p). نتایج تحلیل واریانس تک‌متغیره تنها از لحاظ مولفه دشواری‌های دست‌زدن به رفتار هدفمند (اهداف) تفاوت معناداری بین دو گروه نشان داد.
نتیجه‌گیری: افراد سیگاری دارای اضطراب اجتماعی، دشواری‌های بیشتری در دست‌زدن به رفتار هدفمند دارند. بنابراین، پیشنهاد می‌شود این مشکل می‌تواند با آموزش مهارت‌های تنظیم هیجان کاهش داده شود.
