سابقه و هدف: خودکارآمدی، اعتقاد فرد به توانایی خود برای رسیدن به اهداف خاص است و مبنای مهمی برای رفتار می‌باشد. مادران، نقش تعیین کننده‌ای در سلامت دهان کودکان دارند. هدف این مطالعه، تعیین خودکارآمدی مادران در مراقبت از سلامت دهان کودکان بود.
مواد و روش‌‌ها: این پژوهش توصیفی تحلیلی، از میان ۶۵۲ زن دارای کودک ۳ تا ۶ ساله‌ی شهر کرمانشاه در سال ۱۳۹۸ انجام شد. شرکت‌کنندگان با روش نمونه‌گیری تصادفی ساده از بین مادران مراجعه‌کننده به مراکز بهداشتی- درمانی انتخاب گردیدند. داده‌ها با پرسش‌نامه‌ی کتبی به صورت خودگزارش‌دهی گردآوری تجزیه و تحلیل شد.
یافته‌ها: وضعیت اقتصادی خانواده (۰/۱۷۹ = ß و ۰/۰۰۱< P) و سطح تحصیلات مادر (۰/۱۰۴ = ß و ۰/۰۳۲ = P) پیش‌بینی‌کننده‌ی خودکارآمدی مادران در مراقبت از سلامت دهان کودکان بودند. مادران در حدود نیمی از نمره‌ی پرسش‌نامه‌ی خودکارآمدی را دریافت کردند. خودکارآمدی مادران در مراقبت از سلامت دهان کودکان در زمان احساس تنش، افسردگی و اضطراب کمتر بود.
نتیجه‌گیری: ضرورت توسعه و پیاده‌سازی مداخله‌های ارتقاء خودکارآمدی مادران در مراقبت از سلامت دهان کودکان به خصوص برای مادران دارای تحصیلات پایین‌تر و خانواده‌های با وضعیت اقتصادی ضعیف‌تر احساس می‌شود.
