سابقه و هدف: ناتوانی در شناسایی حالات هیجانی، از مهم‌ترین مشکلات رفتاری کودکان مبتلا به اوتیسم است که تعاملات آنان و متعاقباً صلاحیت والدی مادران را به شدت تحت تأثیر قرار می‌دهد. از این‌رو مطالعه‌ی حاضر با هدف بررسی تأثیر چهره‌شناسی هیجانی به کودکان مبتلا به اوتیسم بر صلاحیت والدی در مادران‌شان انجام شد.
مواد و روش‌‌ها: مطالعه‌ی حاضر یک کارآزمایی بالینی است. کودکان مبتلا به اوتیسم با روش بلوک تصادفی به گروه‌های مداخله و شاهد تخصیص داده شدند. کودکان در گروه مداخله در طی ۱۰ جلسه‌ی ۴۵ دقیقه‌ای با استفاده از ۴۰ تصویر مربوط به چهار موقعیت شادی، غم، خشم و ترس، تحت آمورش قرار گرفتند. پرسش‌نامه‌ی صلاحیت والدی توسط مادران در هر دو گروه در شروع و یک روز بعد از مداخله، تکمیل شد.
یافته‌ها: آموزش حالات هیجانی، سبب ارتقاء صلاحیت والدی در گروه مداخله شده است. همچنین تفاوت آماری معنی‌داری در نمره‌ی کل و حیطه‌های صلاحیت والدی بین دو گروه وجود داشت (۰/۰۰۱ >P).
نتیجه‌گیری: آموزش حالات هیجانی به کودکان مبتلا به اوتیسم، سبب ارتقاء صلاحیت والدی در مادران گردید. بر این اساس پیشنهاد می‌شود، آموزش چهره‌شناسی، در اولویت‌های آموزشی این کودکان قرار گیرد.
